The political turmoil and violence in Myanmar following the February 2021 military coup have led to a significant influx of refugees from Myanmar seeking safety and shelter in northeastern India. The displaced people from Myanmar include ‘stateless’ Rohingya refugees and Myanmar nationals, mainly from Chin and Sagaing states. 

This study aims to better understand the role remittances play for Afghan households alongside humanitarian assistance and other coping mechanisms following the regime change in August 2021. The focus is on the use and impact of remittances on senders and recipient households.

The conflict initially  erupted in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan, but has spread across the country. The SAF and RSF had been recruiting and training  fighters in Darfur since 2022.

On 3 July 2023, Israeli forces conducted a two-day largescale air and ground operation in Jenin Refugee Camp and its surroundings. This is the largest Israeli operation in the occupied West Bank since 2002. The objective of the operation, as stated, was to counter the presence of armed Palestinians in Jenin.

The conflict that began in Khartoum has spread across the country, causing death, injuries, displacement, and destruction. Since 15 April, 70% of all documented political violence incidents in Sudan have occurred in Khartoum state. 

In October 2017, violence erupted in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, when armed men occupied the city of Mocimboa da Praia for two days and attacked three police stations, killing 17 people. The report aims to analyse the drivers of conflict in northern Mozambique, particularly in Cabo Delgado province, and their humanitarian impact. The report also includes an overview of people’s coping mechanisms following the conflict.

ACAPS Humanitarian Access Overview provides a snapshot of the most challenging contexts to operate. Between November 2022 and the end of June 2023, crisis-affected populations in more than 37 countries were experiencing high to extreme access constraints, making it challenging for them to meet their basic needs.

The Afghanistan Risk Overview is a biannual risk identification report outlining key emerging risks likely to affect the humanitarian situation in the country over the next six months. It aims to inform the humanitarian community of possible changes in context and humanitarian needs in Afghanistan to facilitate contingency planning, risk management, and response. 

Cameroon has been experiencing a cholera outbreak since October 2021. Although the number of reported cases was relatively low between late November 2022 and March 2023, there has been a significant increase since 27 March, particularly in Centre region, making it the new epicentre of the epidemic. The epidemic has since mostly affected Centre, Littoral, South, and West regions, with new cases reported in 29 out of 58 districts countrywide.

The spotlight on social impact in Afghanistan is a recurring report released every four months that aims to shed light on themes emerging from information about the country that have or are likely to have a significant social impact. This report aims to focus on issues that directly affect the daily lives of Afghans and that may have profound yet overlooked consequences on the humanitarian response. 

On 15 April 2023, clashes erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in multiple areas of Sudan. While multiple ceasefires have created temporary lulls in fighting, violence continues. As at 6 June, the conflict had resulted in at least 866 deaths and 6,000 injuries according to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH).
