Kenya is currently facing the refugee crisis, and the drought crisis, mainly affecting the arid and semi-arid counties. At least 573,500 registered refugees and asylum seekers were present in Kenya by the end of 2022, with 85% displaced from Somalia and South Sudan. The majority has taken shelter in Dadaab and Kakuma camps, in areas affected by the drought.

More than 105,000 migrants reached Italy by sea in 2022, a 55% increase in sea arrivals compared with 2021. Most migrants and asylum seekers are from Bangladesh, Egypt, or Tunisia.

Although there is limited information on the humanitarian situation in Indian-administered Kashmir, reports indicate that the forced closure of businesses, schools, and markets often disrupt people’s access to livelihoods and education. Access to healthcare is also affected by communication disruptions and movement restrictions in Kashmir. Since 2022, India has been experiencing severe weather events, with an increasing number of floods and landslides, periods of drought, cold waves, cyclones, and storms.

Türkiye is a main transit and destination country for a large number of refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants, who are in need of humanitarian assistance. On 6 February 2023, several earthquakes hit southeastern Türkiye and northwestern Syria, aggravating the situation in the country.

Two major earthquakes struck southern Türkiye on 6 February 2023, causing devastating impacts across multiple provinces. These earthquakes also greatly affected parts of northwest Syria, with around 4.1 million of the 4.5 million people already relying on humanitarian aid.
