The humanitarian situation in Mali continues to deteriorate as conflict drives displacement and increases humanitarian needs, particularly in the regions bordering Burkina Faso and Niger. In 2022, an intensification of attacks by armed groups, particularly in Ménaka and Gao regions, killed hundreds of people. Insecurity is resulting in unreliable food availability in markets.

Since 2013, the expansion of drug-trafficking groups, widespread insecurity, poverty, and high levels of violence have displaced many people within and beyond Honduras' borders, with people migrating mainly to or through Mexico. Honduras is prone to natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and tropical storms. It's also part of the Central American Dry Corridor and experiences erratic rainfall and prolonged periods of drought.

Egypt is a destination country for refugees arriving from across the Middle East and East Africa, particularly from Syria. There have also been large numbers of asylum seekers from Sudan in 2022 and 2023, as a result of the worsening humanitarian situation in the country. There are no refugee camps in Egypt. Refugees and asylum seekers live with the urban population and are heavily reliant on humanitarian assistance.

Afghan refugees in Iran are one of the largest refugee populations in the world. The situation for Afghan refugees is becoming increasingly difficult in the country. Since January 2023, over 250,000 refugees returned to Afghanistan from Iran, at least half of them facing some form of coercion.

Brazil hosts more than 400,000 Venezuelan refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers, representing 20% of the total Venezuelan refugees in the world. Most of them enter through and stay in the Brazilian states of Roraima and Amazonas. Accommodation, food and livelihood are their main humanitarian needs of those affected by the crisis. The northwestern states of Brazil are prone to flooding.

Conflict and natural hazards are the main problems driving the humanitarian crisis in Pakistan. Militancy has been targeting civilians and security forces since 2020 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Balochistan is Pakistan’s least urbanised and most impoverished province.

It continues to experience security tensions in the areas of the Kurdish region bordering Türkiye. Iraq also hosts more than 258,000 Syrian refugees and 28,000 from other regions.

Uganda hosts more than 1.5 million refugees and asylum seekers, mostly from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The majority live in refugee settlements in Northern and Western regions. Besides COVID-19, Uganda has faced other diseases outbreaks, including yellow fever and Ebola.
